Vol. 3 No. 5 (2026)
The fifth issue of IJETAA features a review by Zhaojiu Zhou examining the development and application of artificial intelligence in the safety inspection of chemical storage tanks—one of the most safety-critical challenges in the process industries. The author contrasts conventional approaches such as manual visual examination, magnetic-particle and ultrasonic testing, and out-of-service internal surveys with emerging AI-driven methods, including computer vision and deep learning, intelligent acoustic-emission diagnosis, multimodal data fusion, and unmanned inspection platforms. The review highlights how these techniques enable in-service, online, and predictive assessment with greater consistency and coverage, while candidly addressing open challenges in data quality, cross-scenario generalization, and model interpretability. This issue offers a timely synthesis of where intelligent inspection stands and the path toward trustworthy, safety-critical deployment.
